Crytek Says Free-to-Play Version of TimeSplitters 4 a Possibility

The last TimeSplitters game came out way back in 2005 when the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube were the consoles to own. TimeSplitters: Future Perfect received positive reviews and high praise, but that was the last time a new TimeSplitters was available. There has been talk of TimeSplitters 4 ever since, but Crytek has said very little of the title since acquiring original creators Free Radical Design (now Crytek UK). The game was put on hold in 2009, but Crytek UK has said it would be willing to go back to the game once there has been some demand. The only problem is there has been demand from fans but not publishers, despite a petition to revive the title.

However, there is a silver lining to all of this as Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli says there is a possibility TimeSplitters 4 would be a free-to-play title. Yerli recently said all future Crytek games will be F2P once the current commitments are finished, but if TimeSplitters 4 does happen it will appear on the studio's social entertainment platform GFACE. He echoed that publishers are not in love with the idea of a fourth game and that it is impossible to make one how Free Radical did in the past, but GFACE would make it a possibility. Crytek would just need enough fans showing support to make it a reality.
