Final Fantasy VII is one of the most beloved titles in the long running JRPG series, and with good reason. A magnificient story, memorable characters that you build an emotional attachment to, terrific gameplay, and plenty more, not to mention the first 3D Final Fantasy, all left a lasting impression on the minds of gamers throughout the world. It is no surprise FF7 is the most requested title in the series to receive a remake, even though we have gone back to the locale already with the PSP title Crisis Core and the movie Advent Children. Sony released the original PSone version on the PlayStation Store a while back, but now it looks like that is not all for this classic.
A recent listing on Square Enix's new FinalFantasy7PC.com showed a Steam version of the game with cloud saving, 36 achievements, and online profiles to compare progress with friends (viewable here). There was also mention of a Character Booster item to increase your HP, MP, and Gil. This listing has since been pulled, but a Steam version of Final Fantasy VII would be welcome news for gamers. I just hope Square Enix will include a high resolution texture pack for the Steam version, as a game originally released in 1997 for the PSone and PC is just a little dated. There is already a texture pack for the original PC version, so why not include it in the Steam version?
The website listed Final Fantasy VII at £7.99 / €9.99, which is the same price as the PSN version. No U.S. price was listed, but I expect it would be $9.99 as well.
