Back in April, Bethesda's Pete Hines said fans of Skyrim and RAGE can be looking forward to some announcements in the near future. It did not take very long for Bethesda to announce Dawnguard, Skyrim's first DLC, but the news on RAGE has been pretty nonexistent. The only thing to really be mentioned is that RAGE is still planned as a large franchise, but Bethesda and id Software did not elaborate. Now it looks like some people at the European ratings boards got a little impatient and released some information on RAGE. According to the Pan European Game Information (PEGI), a new RAGE DLC called The Scorchers is currently in production.
The Scorchers were supposed to be the sixth bandit clan in RAGE, but they were cut before the game released. They worship the asteroid that destroyed the world and believed a demigod rode it directly into the planet's soul. The Scorchers decorate their bodies and vehicles with flame motifs because they think tapping into the asteroid's "power" will make them nearly invincible. The clan is lead by a man known as Reaver and his distinctive vehicle paint is easy to recognize. The clan controls the area around Dead City and vehicle combat with the Scorchers will be challenging just because they like to attack in packs of three.
It looks like id Software is correcting the omission from RAGE with this new DLC and even submitted it to PEGI for classification. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) does not have a listing just yet, but I imagine it will before long. The only problem with all of the information from PEGI is the DLC was listed as having a June 14th launch. You may have noticed we are just a little past that, so hopefully Bethesda or id Software can clarify matters.
