AMD has announced a new partnership with ARM today, but it is not what you may be thinking. AMD and ARM are partnering up to improve security on AMD APUs with ARM TrustZone technology. AMD will develop a "platform security processor" based on an ARM Cortex-A5 processor with TrustZone technology built-in. This will enable an open, end-to-end security system across mobile, Internet, and Cloud-based activities, which AMD hopes will be adopted throughout the industry. Select AMD APUs will have the technology starting next year with further expansion planned for 2014. This combination of x86 and ARM processors helps to ensure security across the growing number of computing devices, and I am sure consumers and businesses alike will be grateful for it.
