Last month, we posted some details of Unreal Engine 4, but all we had were some screenshots, albeit, some very nice ones. During E3, GT.TV was lucky enough to get an exclusive development walkthrough of Unreal Engine 4 from Epic Games' Senior Technical Artist Alan Willard. The majority of the demo shows off what he calls "real-time, dynamic, global illumination and glossy, specular reflection." In layman's terms: pretty freaking awesome lighting and shadow effects. The demo shows us direct and indirect lighting sources, various particle systems, and day-night cycles. The latter part of the demo delves deeper into the technical side of things, showing how everything can be manipulated in real-time in the engine itself, while you're "playing" through it. It's definitely well worth the watch.

Brilliant demo. A couple of the demonstrations remind me of some of the stuff that NVIDIA showed at the GTX 680 press event back in March. (Indirect illumination, particle shadowing, time-of-day, etc). Looking forward to seeing more on this

I would be very interested to know the specs of that PC he is using for this demo lol
