Last Thursday, LucasArts took the wraps off its brand-new Star Wars 1313 franchise with a sneak peak at the game. More information, including the first gameplay footage, would be revealed during E3, and luckily for us E3 is going on now. LucasArts showed the first gameplay footage of Star Wars 1313, and I have to say, it looks terrific. The character models are highly detailed and move just like real people thanks to the full body motion capture being employed. We see our bounty hunter watch a holographic display of the ship descending down to Level 1313 on Coruscant before he turns and the camera reveals the ship itself. It bears a striking resemblance to a Corellian Corvette, but the Star Wars 1313 logo appears before we get a good look.
Afterwards we get to see a harrowing experience our character goes through thanks to his manic companion, but again the logo appears before any more is shown. Next we get some footage of the combat in the game that starts with a bang, and shows some of the fun gadgets bounty hunters get to use. Only bits and pieces of gameplay were shown from the E3 demo, so I hope more can be seen during the convention. So far it is looking great and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
Star Wars 1313 is played from a third-person perspective, which will make cutscenes all the more fluid. LucasArts is designing the game to be a mature take on the franchise, complete with the M rating, and should be a new way of approaching the world of Star Wars. The game footage in the trailer below is entirely from the game's engine, so nothing is a cinematic here. The best news from the gameplay footage reveal is everything shown is from the PC version, so at least that system is confirmed. Other systems and a release date will have to wait until later in the year.
