At Ubisoft's 2012 E3 Press Conference just moments ago, all the usual suspects showed up — Assassin's Creed III, Far Cry 3, etc. It wasn't until the very end that the company decided to surprise the crowd with the unveiling of a brand new IP — Watch Dogs. The premise is in its tagline: Everything is connected. Connection is power. Taking place in the present day, a Central Operating System (ctOS) controls everything in a city, providing centralized control over subway lines, traffic lights, surveillance cameras, and electricity grids. In gameplay footage shown to close out the press conference, the player seemingly has complete control over the ctOS, able to hack into practically anything in this open world game. Need to cause a diversion? Simply hack the traffic lights and cause an accident. Watch the Introduction Trailer and Game Demo below and be amazed. Not just amazed at how good this game looks, but amazed at how they were able to keep this a secret. It's merely day one of E3, but Watch Dogs is already a strong contender for Best in Show.
