Remastered DOOM 3 Arriving This Fall for PC and Console

It may be a little hard to believe, but DOOM 3 is approaching its tenth year of release. Originally out in 2004, DOOM 3 made many a computer scream at the graphical horsepower required and many a gamer scream at the terrors on Mars. There were some problems with the game, most noticably how dark it all was and the fact you could not have a flashlight and gun equipped at the same time. You either had to switch back and forth between the flashlight and weapon as quick as possible or just randomly fire at any sound that made you jump. There was a mod released that added a light to your gun, thankfully, but soon you will not have to rely on mods when replaying DOOM 3. Id Software and Bethesda Softworks have announced DOOM 3: BFG Edition due this Fall for the PC, PS3, and 360.

DOOM 3: BFG Edition will add a flashlight mounted directly to your character's armor (after eight years), so now you will no longer have to choose between seeing the demons or firing wildly. This new version of the classic also updates the visuals, adds 5.1 sound, achievements/trophies, checkpoint saves for consoles, better console controls, 3D support, and head-mounted display support. I am not sure how many people use a head-mounted display for gaming, but you will be able to utilize it for DOOM 3: BFG Edition. There will also be seven new levels added that are called "The Lost Mission," plus DOOM 1, DOOM 2, and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil are also being included.

Aside from the flashlight on your weapon, it looks exactly like the original Doom 3.... You can even see how bad the textures are on the door at :21

Yeah, my modded doom 3 looks much better than that, i was hoping for a full re-do of the meshes and textures at least. Or maybe port it over to a new game engine. If they are going to be selling it (which they are) why are they selling it with a ancient game engine and low quality graphics? Im not saying make it look like BF3 or run it on cryengine 3, but at least have a go at making it better

Meh I would rather see some news about Doom 4 or Quake 5.

+1 I think Bethesda put Doom 4 on hold after the unspectacular release of Rage though. I personally hope they return to huge battles with hundreds of enemies à la Doom II instead of continuing survival horror.
