Some of you may remember that last year a number of EA games were removed from the Steam store. Though Valve never officially gave a reason for this, the commonly accepted explanation was that it had to do with the purchase of DLC. Steam's terms and conditions require that all DLC may be purchased through the Steam store, but EA wanted DLC to be purchased through the game itself.

One of the titles removed from the Steam store was Crysis 2, the sequel to the infamous Crysis, making it only available as a digital download from EA's Origin store. Now the title is back on Steam as Crysis 2 Maximum Edition. This edition includes nine multiplayer maps and two weapons that were previously released in the Retaliation and Decimation packs. It appears that because the DLC are bundled with the game, it can be sold through Steam without violating the store's terms.

Perhaps we will start seeing other EA games coming to Steam, as their DLC development winds down. For those of you who bought Crysis 2 through Steam before it was taken down, there is a 50% off deal for you to upgrade to the Maximum Edition. For new buyers, the Maximum Edition is priced at $39.99.
