Ever since you could ride horses in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, fans of the series have been clamoring for mounted combat. The release of Skyrim brought hope that you could fight while riding your horse, but alas the feature was not included at launch. Bethesda showed off its Game Jam video where the developers had a week to create any mod they desired, and one of the ones shown was mounted combat. This gave Skyrim owners a renewed hope that perhaps the feature would be added in later, especially since a few other mods from the video have been added in via patch. The folks at Bethesda Game Studios have some good news for everyone at last, as the upcoming 1.6 update for Skyrim will finally add mounted combat with both melee and ranged weapons. Currently the update is available in beta form on Steam, but should soon be available in full and for the consoles too. There are a good number of other fixes available in the update, like crash fixes, AI pathfinding fixes, respawn issues, and various other ones you can read at the source.
