Google Chrome is Now The Number One Web Browser

Category: Software
Posted: 05:03PM

According to StatCounter, Google Chrome has overtaken Microsoft Internet Explorer to become the most used web browser worldwide. Chrome has only been ahead for a week, but it has been on the upswing for some time, while IE has been declining for years. The exact numbers put Chrome at 31.88% and Internet Explorer at 31.47%. Internet Explorer is still on top in many regions around the world, no doubt being boosted as the default web browser on Windows computers. I still make it a point to download Chrome as one of the first things to do after a new install.

Why is chrome so popular? I don't see anything special about it. They claim it's faster...I did not feel it.

I noticed significant speed upgrade when I switched from Firefox a few years back. I use Chrome exclusively unless I have a page at work that is only supported through IE.

It's simple and clean. You also don't need to tick yes/no on a million pop-up boxes unlike on IE.

The times, they are a-changin'. IE really is starting to become the butt of all jokes now. I wonder if we'll see more Linux distros bundling Chromium over Firefox in the near future. So far in the *buntu line it's in Lubuntu by default.

I've been using Chrome ever since I switched from Firefox over two years. It's a very capable browser and just lightning fast.
