20 Years Ago We Were First Able to Kill Robo-Hitler

One of my earliest gaming memories is of Wolfenstein 3D, the classic Nazi-killing game. I can even remember a few of the secrets in the game. Twenty years ago that game was released and id Software is celebrating with sales and free versions.

The original Wolfenstein 3D has been rewritten as a browser game for everyone (over 18) to enjoy. If you have never had the experience of escaping Castle Wolfenstein before, but enjoy first person shooters, you owe it to yourself to check the game out. The iOS version has also been made free, so grab it quick, in case the sale does not last. Steam's Daily Deal also features this title and two later Wolfenstein games, Spear of Destiny and Return to Castle Wolfenstein, at 75% off. All three games can be had in the Wolf Pack, and the Super id Software Pack is available at 50% off.

Finally, one of the original developers and co-founders of id Software, John Carmack, has made a developer's commentary for the game.
