Crysis 3 Due Next Year, Setting Combines First Two Games
Remember that inadvertent Crysis 3 leak last week, which then resulted in EA saying to look forward to April 16th? Well, you are in luck, as EA and Crytek have officially announced Crysis 3 due out next year. The companies had to act fairly quick since the leak, but have revealed a fair amount of information on the sequel. Crysis 3 stars "Prophet" and takes place in New York City, but this time the environment echoes the one from the first Crysis. New York has been covered in a Nanodome, which has turned the seven sectors into a rainforest, swamp, and other lovely environments. The Cell Corporation says the dome is necessary in order to cleanse the city of any remaining Ceph forces, but there is more at stake than just that. Prophet uses a composite bow, an advanced Nanosuit, and "alien" technology to help him survive and figure out just what Cell Corp has in mind.
EA also announced various pre-order bonuses for Crysis 3, plus an upgrade bonus for all pre-orders. If you pre-order now, you will be upgraded to the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition, which adds the bow and Hunter Nanosuit module to mulitplayer. There is also an unique skin, dogtags, and an XP boost for multiplayer included with the Hunter Edition. As for the pre-order packs, there will be three of them although no specific retailers are mentioned at this time. The pre-order packs include all of the Hunter Edition content and some extras:
Stalker Pack — Early multiplayer access to the deadly semi-auto Jackal shotgun. This powerful, close-range shotgun comes with a unique silencer attachment, custom weapon skin and two exclusive themed in-game dog tags.
Overkill Pack — Early multiplayer access to the Typhoon assault weapon and skin. Spewing 500 rounds a second, the Typhoon gives players the ability to go guns blazing to take back the Liberty Dome. Also included are two exclusive Overkill themed in-game dog tags.
Predator Pack — Early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun and exclusive camo. With an extremely fast rate of fire and a 60 round magazine the Feline is highly effective and deadly, at short range.
All in all, these packs are just for multiplayer and should have no impact on single player. I suspect EA will announce the retailers for these packs at a later date, but you can head over to Origin and pre-order Crysis 3 now. It is set to launch next spring for the PC, PS3, and 360.
