Blizzard Cuts 600 Jobs, Diablo III and Other Games Unaffected
With every bad news there is some good news, but I will just get the bad news out of the way first. Blizzard has cut 600 jobs worldwide, which is a bad thing because now people are out of work, but the good news is none of those jobs were with game development. I know, it is not much of a silver lining and especially not for the people who are now out of work, but it is something. Blizzard's President, Mike Morhaime, clarified the jobs cut were in overstaffed areas and will not impact any of the games currently being developed. Morhaime assured fans "Blizzard DOTA, Diablo III, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, as well as other, unannounced projects" were all on track and would be released. He said that Blizzard will soon have "exciting news" concerning Diablo III's release date, and says the team is "working hard" to get it and others in our hands before long.
