With all the talk of free-to-play mech games coming out this year, you may have forgotten about Hawken, the stunning first-person mech game that wowed everyone at first glance. It seems "everyone" also includes some companies with extra cash, as Hawken has received $10 million in funding from Benchmark Capital and FirstMark Capital, the same investors that backed League of Legends. The two investors want to see Adhesive Games make Hawken a success, and the extra funding will help the developer and parent company Meteor Entertainment self-publish the game. Graphic novels, videos, and even a feature film could come about with the funding as well, which would help set up Adhesive Games for future titles.
Hawken will be a free-to-play game with a storefront for cosmetic changes to your mech, and will launch on December 12th. Signups for the closed beta are already live, so be sure to head over to the Hawken website to register if you have not done so already.
