It was not too long ago that Epic Games' Vice President Mark Rein mentioned Unreal Engine 4 would be shown off at some point this year. At the time I am sure many people thought that would be near the end of the year, but now it looks like the reveal is nearly here. Epic Games announced it will show off Unreal Engine 4 at the Game Developer's Conference next week, which should make for an interesting show. The only bad news is not everyone in attendance at GDC will be able to see the new engine, as the presentation for it only be by appointment. Hopefully Epic puts up some footage of Unreal Engine 4 online soon after, as I am sure gamers everywhere will want to get a good look at what some future games will use. Even with the reveal of UE4 next week, odds are we will not see any games run it for a couple of years, as Epic's Tim Sweeney said he does not expect the technology to be in use until 2014. Still, it will be nice to see what UE4 brings to the table.
