When Sony Online Entertainment announced it was developing a long-awaited sequel to PlanetSide, one of the few successful MMOFPSs, fans were elated. Then when it was announced that PlanetSide 2 would be free-to-play, the reception was a mixed bag, but most people were still intrigued at the idea of battling hundreds of other players at one time in a modern FPS. Beta sign-ups began in December, but for those that pick up the April 2012 issue of PC Gamer (US), they're in for a very pleasant surprise. Inside is a code to receive "Priority Beta Access"! Simply enter the code on the PlanetSide2.com site and once priority beta access opens, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to access the game. For non-PC Gamer subscribers, if you're a PlanetSide fan, it may be worth the $8.99 cover price just to get the code, and you'll also be treated to a six-page article on the game.
