Ubuntu Targets Enterprise Market

Ubuntu is one of several very popular Linux distributions and the company behind it, Canonical, is looking to branch out. Unlike other Linux vendors, such as Red Hat, Ubuntu has no special edition targeted at enterprise environments. That is about to change, as the Ubuntu Business Desktop Remix has been released. This edition is based off of the Ubuntu distribution, but it has a different set of default packages that come installed in order to tailor it toward a professional environment. The inclusion of VMWare View and the exclusion of games and multimedia applications should help business users. Prospective users will be required to fill out a registration form before gaining access to the ISO file, but it will remain free to download. The next release of Ubuntu will be the 12.04 version, which will be available in April, and it will be a long-term support (LTS) release. LTS versions of Ubuntu are supported for five years, and this release is expected to be a more full fledged business remix candidate.
