Research in Motion (RIM) has been a big presence in the smartphone market ever since it introduced the BlackBerry. However, the emergence of the iPhone and Android has been eroding its market share for years. Reports have RIM exploring a number of different possibilities to help weather the storm, including licensing its software, selling part of the company, or even selling the whole company. Samsung is rumored to be interested in purchasing the whole company, but a spokesman has said that Samsung isn't looking to purchase the whole company, but made no comments on buying part of the company or licensing its software. BlackBerry has a number of enterprise features and BlackBerry Messenger that give appeal to several options, especially for companies that may be looking to differentiate themselves in the crowded Android market.
