Remember that report last week stating Sony could announce a PlayStation 4 at E3 2012? Well, it turns out that will not happen, as Sony has no plans to announce a PS4 at E3 this year. Sony's Kaz Hirai spoke at CES and said Sony is not going to make an announcement at E3 2012 about a PS4, saying Andrew House's comments about Sony not announcing anything is correct. Hirai stands by his announcement of the ten year life cycle for the PS3, and has no desire to interupt that. The PlayStation 3 is just a little over five years old as it is, making 2016 the end of the ten year life cycle. When Sony does announce a PS4, there will probably be some overlap between it and the PS3, just like how the PS3 and PS2 overlapped some. At any rate, there will be no PS4 announcement this year.
