There is some new Diablo III news out now, but it may not be exactly what some people were hoping for. There had been rumors of Diablo III appearing on something other than the PC, and now those are true, as Blizzard has just announced Diablo III will come to consoles. Blizzard has had job postings listed asking for experienced console developers, and earlier today a Twitter post by Blizzard community manager Micah Whiple confirmed Diablo III is in development on consoles. Whiple did not say what consoles it would be for or when exactly it would launch, but did say Josh Mosqueira is the lead designer for the console version. Mosqueira previously worked at Relic on Company of Heroes, so the console version of Diablo III should be in good hands.
It looks like Diablo III will get to be enjoyed by more than just PC gamers, but when exactly the console version launches remains to be seen. The PC version of Diablo III has an early 2012 launch date, but we are still waiting on a solid release date for that as well.
