Now, that was fast. Not too long after the sighting of a startling entry inside Steam's registry and some teasing by Remedy Entertainment, Alan Wake has now been definitively confirmed as headed for the PC. Those who followed the game since its initial announcement will know that Alan Wake was first slated as a PC exclusive, although in the years that followed it became a PC/console title, until Microsoft finally decided to release it only for the Xbox 360. The publisher defended its decision by stating that Alan Wake was best experienced in the comforts of a couch and a large TV, and Remedy also cited that its staff of 50 couldn't handle developing both the PC and Xbox versions at the same time.

Still, Remedy sought to appease PC fans by reaffirming its strong ties to the PC platform. "Saying that Alan Wake is best played on a sofa with 5.1 surround and a big TV screen, I think is more of a preference than anything else," shares Oskari Häkkinen, Head of Franchise Development at Remedy Entertainment. "We're not going out there to say that PC gamers can't enjoy it from their own PC set-up. We're certainly not saying that. We have a strong heritage in PC gaming as well."

Despite being only a modest success on the Xbox 360, 2 DLCs for Alan Wake were released, with an Xbox Live Arcade offshoot titled Alan Wake's American Nightmare also scheduled for Q1 2012 - the same release window as the PC version. Fortunately, Alan Wake for the PC will include both DLCs The Signal and The Writer into the package. The image below shows our first glimpse at how Alan Wake PC should appear when it's released digitally on Steam. Will you be buying Alan Wake, now that it's finally coming out on our favorite platform?
