Not too long, some rumblings came out of Sony that the lead designer for Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, Fumito Ueda, had left the company. Sony has now officially confirmed Ueda has left, but he will finish out his contractual obligation for The Last Guardian. Ueda has been with Sony for fourteen years and was in charge of The Last Guardian, which was rumored to be in trouble with Ueda's and producer Yoshifusa Hayama's departure. Hayama has taken a position over at Bossa Studios, but work will still continue on The Last Guardian with Ueda's help. Hopefully nothing suffers as work wraps up on The Last Guardian, as both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are two stunning examples of games as art. The Last Guardian is looking to continue that tradition, so with any luck, it will be Ueda's swansong at Sony.
