We're just a few days away from the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but it seems one of the most talked about features for the game will not arrive at launch for the PC. Activision has announced that Call of Duty Elite will be delayed for the PC, but Activision did not say when we could expect it. From the sound of it, Call of Duty Elite for the PC could arrive much later than the game itself, since Activision it wants to be sure the PC environment is as safe as possible. The insecurity of the dedicated servers is the main reason for the delay, and the main cause of concern for the developer. Activision is doing some extensive reworking of Call of Duty Elite for the PC, and it will be different from the console version. It will "have some reduced functionality," meaning Activision will drop the subscription for Elite for PC gamers. You can still track your stats and those of your friends, but you will need to pay for the DLC packs separately, and possibly lose access to the web TV series and competitions.
On another note, the PC version of MW3 has not been shown much at all, since all the gameplay videos and convention appearances are of the console versions. Activision says it is dedicated to the PC, but it frankly has not shown that level of dedicated yet. With the delay of Call of Duty Elite on the PC, that is just another blow to PC gamers.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will launch on November 8th for the PC, PS3, and 360.
