New Efficiency Record for Flexible OLED Screen

Organic light emitting diodes, better known as OLEDs, offer very high contrast ratios while using less energy than other display types. This type of screen also has the potential to be printed on flexible plastic, allowing screens you can bend without breaking to be made. Until recently though, such flexible displays have not been at the same level as their glass counterparts, already used in electronics. Researchers at the University of Toronto have successfully created an OLED screen on a flexible plastic substrate, with quality comparable to glass based screens. Another benefit to the use of plastic instead of glass is a reduction in manufacturing cost, so we can expect the display industry to grab this as fast as they can.
