Silicon Knights Lets Go Majority of Employees
Earlier this year, Silicon Knights was given a grant to help protect the 97 employees at the studio as well as add 80 more employees. Yesterday, it looks like not only did Silicon Knights not add those 80 jobs, it also let go the majority of its staff. According to a report, Silicon Knights now has 25 employees forming a core team, with the entire human resources team included in the layoffs. Since the year 2000, Silicon Knights has released four games: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Too Human, and X-Men: Destiny. The last title just came out this past September, but was not very popular and received poor review scores. Silicon Knights has also had several games never release, including an unnamed Sega project, and had a legal dispute with Epic Games over Unreal Engine 3. Perhaps the layoff of the majority of its employees can help Silicon Knights rebound, as its games have shown promise but been marred by technical problems.
