A couple of years ago, a new MechWarrior game was shown off with a gameplay trailer. That was two years ago, and we have heard practically nothing since due to some legal troubles. Today, all of that changes, as the new MechWarrior game has been confirmed as MechWarrior Online. The game is exclusive to the computer and will be free-to-play, but the developer, Piranha Games, says it will be true to the MechWarrior legacy. Since the title is MechWarrior Online, you will be able to form a lance (four-man squad) as part of a "mercenary corporation for hire," and can team up in battles in Conquest and Deathmatch modes. Each lance can customize the look, battle formations, ranks, and more, ensuring each lance will be unique. MechWarrior Online does have microtransactions, but the items you can buy offer no gameplay advantage (you need to earn those). There will also be an upgrade system similar to the ones found in past MechWarrior games, as well as Diablo.
