German company Sharkoon Technologies has launched its latest series of modular power supplies dubbed the WPM series. The new series consists of three models, all featuring ATX 12V 2.0 support, active PFC (Power Factor Correction) and a 12V rail coupled with one 140mm cooling fan. The power supplies also include two PCIe connectors (one 6-pin and one 6+2-pin) and are 80 PLUS certified, meaning all models are over 80% power efficient. The three models in the WPM series, the WPM400 (400W), WPM500 (500W) and WPM600 (600W) are available now for around $56 (€39.49), $64 (€45.49) and $77 (€54.49) respectively.

No quite correct! The WPMs are NOT 80 Plus certified. Sharkoon only claims that the efficiency is "over 80%" and puts a logo which remotely resembles "80 Plus". Moreover, the new Sharkoon QP-series, which they do claim to be "80 Plus Bronze" certified, isn't certified, either (at least, ECOS http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/ does not have them listed, yet).

I've received the efficiency numbers from Sharkoon.de for the WPM PSU efficiency factors. Combined with the semi-modular design and (hopefully) quiet 14 cm fan, these WPMs might be a great value... especially if they are manufactured by a respectable OEM (like ENHANCE for their SHA-R series). 400W 20% - 83,13% 50% - 84,90% 100% - 84,14% 500W 20% - 82,33% 50% - 85,35% 100% - 84,03% 600W 20% - 85,16% 50% - 87,44% 100% - 86,00%
