Mass Effect 3 Demo Coming in January, BF3 Purchasers Get Early Access to Multiplayer Portion
Mass Effect 3 will be the end to the story of Commander Shepard when it launches next March. BioWare is committed to the end of Shepard's tale, and for the final game in the trilogy, is adding some new features. The biggest feature is the inclusion of co-op multiplayer, a first for the series, that will see you and three friends battle it out as members of a Special Forces squad. You can play as several different races in the game, from Turian to Asari and even Krogan, as you fight to save planets from the Reapers. The multiplayer component is completely optional, but that does not mean BioWare and EA will not showcase it. BioWare has announced that a demo of Mass Effect 3 will come in January, and will have both a single player and multiplayer component. The multiplayer component will have an early access period for those who purchase Battlefield 3, due out in a few days. When you redeem the Online Pass for Battlefield 3, you will unlock early access for the multiplayer portion of the ME3 demo. The single player part will remain locked until the demo comes out in full, but at least this way you can try out the multiplayer part a little early. BioWare and EA have not announced a date as to when the ME3 demo will launch, nor when the early access period begins or for what platforms the demo will be on, but at least newcomers to the series can get to try it out. Jumping in to the final part of a trilogy may not sit well with some, but it is still good to see a demo is coming.
Mass Effect 3 will launch on March 6th, 2012, for the PC, PS3, and 360.
