Kindle Touch 3G Still Dependent on Wi-Fi

Category: Mobile
Posted: 03:54PM

The recently announced Kindle Touch 3G from Amazon will feature some basic web browsing capabilities. However, the 3G aspect will only be good for downloading purchased books and documents and browsing Wikipedia. This is likely due to the fact that Amazon subsidizes the 3G access, and any further capability would likely cost them more. Anyone that is looking to do any further browsing on their new Kindle will need to be on Wi-Fi. The 3G version of the Kindle Touch will set you back $149, while the Wi-Fi only version costs only $99. Potential buyers will have to decide if the ability to download books anywhere they have 3G is worth the price premium before the November 21 release date.
