With the recent release of the Battlefield 3 Beta, most gamers want to know if their systems can handle the new Frostbite 2 graphics engine. DICE hoped to combine the best parts of the two engines it had previously used, Frostbite 1 and the Unreal Engine 3, into one with Frostbite 2. If you have seen any photos from the game, then you know the game already looks amazing. NVIDIA decided to do some tests to see how its video cards stacked up against the game, summarizing its results in a guide. A total of eleven graphic settings can be adjusted, with four presets included, Low, Medium, High, and Ultra. The game looks pretty good at lower qualities for those gamers that don't have the best systems, but it really looks amazing at High and Ultra settings. In some testing performed by NVIDIA, setups with at least one GTX 590 performed best, with results from using two of those cards in SLI producing even higher frame rates.
