Quantum Simulator Made

A primary goal for science is to understand how the universe works, from the largest scales cosmologists consider, to the small sizes of quantum mechanics. At every scale, scientists try to find equations to describe every phenomenon, but sometimes the system is too complex to create an equation for or even model them on computers. This is the case for quantum systems. If you cannot model the system in a computer, then you might as well simulate it in an experiment, which researchers at the University of Innsbruck have just made more possible. Two years ago the university used an analog approach to simulate a specific relativistic phenomenon. With advances in quantum computers to help them, the team has returned and created a digital approach to their simulation experiment. This has the potential to recreate almost any quantum system and shows very well a potential use for quantum computers.
