I'm sure many of you are eagerly awaiting the release date of Star Wars: The Old Republic, the first MMORPG from BioWare. Well, it seems that EA and BioWare won't commit to a firm release date until the beta wraps up. That is because fan reaction to the beta will determine when The Old Republic releases, since both EA and BioWare want a smooth and trouble-free launch for the full game. EA's Frank Gibeau said that he and the team are happy with how the beta is currently going and that the release date is looking clearer and clearer, but does say that something could happen in the September/October timeframe that changes it. Gibeau says that EA wants to avoid the launch issues that have plagued other MMOs, like World of Warcraft, where those games had huge queues to get into the servers and even experienced some crashes. As such, pre-orders for SWTOR are limited to ensure a smooth launch for when the game does launch. Quantities for the game will increase after the launch, so if you don't pre-order it now you may not get in right away.
