I'm sure almost everyone is looking forward to the Playstation Vita in some capacity, be it for themselves or their children. Maybe you had heard the rumors that the Vita would launch this year, perhaps as early as the end of October. Well, those were just that, rumors, as Sony's Kazuo Hirai announced today that the PSVita would miss the holiday season in the US and Europe, with the launch of the handheld in those two territories being set for 2012. Hirai didn't give a specific date for the Japanese launch, but did seem to suggest it would launch in time for the holidays over there. So, that makes one area likely to have the PSVita by the end of the year, while gamers in the US and Europe will have to wait until sometime in 2012. My guess is that we'll have the Vita around March or April, but don't hold your breath on that. The PSVita, when it does launch, will carry with it a $250 price for the WiFi-only model, while the 3G+WiFi model will start at $299. It is a shame that gamers around the world won't have it in time for the holiday season, but at least we now know more about when it will launch.
