Back in 2009, Gearbox Software released a game called Borderlands. The game presented you with more weapons than you could possibly keep at one time, a unique co-op experience, and simply some of the most fun you could have solo or with three friends. It seems inevitable that a sequel would be coming, especially since members of both Gearbox and Take-Two, the publisher of the game, said that a sequel is definitely possible. Now, a new report is pegging 2012 as the year we get our hands on Borderlands 2. A source close to the matter told Eurogamer that Borderlands 2 is currently in development and will release sometime in 2012 for the PC, PS3, and 360. Gearbox president Randy Pitchford followed up with Eurogamer and told the site that while Borderlands is "beloved," no official word on a sequel has been announced. Borderlands has sold over four million copies worldwide, so it seems a sequel must happen at some point, just it isn't confirmed, yet. Eurogamer's source said that an official announcement will be coming "soon," so perhaps we won't have long to wait at all. Maybe the upcoming Gamescom in Cologne, Germany will make for an ideal time to reveal Borderlands 2.
