Every so often a game studio will come around that develops a series of hits for one platform. Sometimes that studio will then take its talents to another platform, but other times the studio gets bought by the platform it first developed for to stay on that platform. That is the case today as Sony has announced it has purchased Sucker Punch Productions, developers of hits like the inFamous and Sly Cooper franchises. This move ensures that all future Sucker Punch games stay on Sony's platform, while the leadership of Sucker Punch will stay intact. According to Sony, both the inFamous and Sly Cooper franchises have sold over seven million copies worldwide, which is a pretty impressive feature when you consider neither one is that old. Both Sony and Sucker Punch state that both have enjoyed a great working relationship over the past decade, and now Sucker Punch will officially be a part of the Sony Computer Entertainment group. I can see only good things in the future for Sucker Punch, as both the inFamous and Sly Cooper franchises are some of my favorite PlayStation games. Now, those two franchises and more will stay with the PlayStation.
