Toshiba today unveiled its first 1TB 2.5" hard drive, as part of its MQ01ABD series of 2.5" hard drives. The new series consists of five variants, all featuring a slim thickness of 9.5mm, coupled with a SATA 3Gb/s interface. Other features across the series include an 8MB memory buffer and maximum sound outputs of 24dB (1TB and 750GB models) and 19dB (500GB, 320GB and 250GB models). The MQ01ABD series of 2.5" hard drives will comprise of a 1TB model (featuring two 500GB platters), along with 750GB, 500GB, 320GB and 250GB versions. All drives run at 5400RPM and should be available soon, with mass production beginning later this month. Toshiba did not disclose the pricing of the new drives.
