iPhone Users Spend Nearly 15 Hours a Month Gaming
Apple always wants you to think that its phones are more than just phones. It wants you to use your iPhone to listen to music, browse the Internet, and even play games. It is the games that iPhone users seem to be embracing the most, as they spend nearly 15 hours a month gaming on their phone. The actual number is 14.7 hours a month, which is a pretty good chunk of time for a mobile phone. For a comparison, Android users only spend 9.3 hours a month gaming on their phones, while the overall average, including Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry owners, is only 7.8 hours a month. The study doesn't look at what kind of games are available on every platform, which could be a big difference, but just sees how much time is spent on each mobile platform playing a game. It also seems that 93% of users are more likely to spend money on a game, while a news or weather app, the two next most popular app downloads, aren't as likely to be bought. Smartphone users download a game 64% of the time, yet if you're curious about how many get an educational app, only 11% of owners get one of those. It seems the smartphone gaming market is definitely gaining steam.
