Bloomberg is reporting that Samsung has dropped its patent infringement counter-suit against Apple, filed on April 21. This suit was in response to Apple's own patent infringement suit from April 15. Bloomberg explains that Samsung has done this to "steamline the legal proceedings." While this suit has been dropped Samsung will still defend the patents mentioned in the suit via its counter-claim to Apple's suit.
On June 28 Samsung filed another suit in the U.S. against Apple, claiming technology used in the iPhone and iPad are infringing patents. A similar suit was also filed by Samsung in the U.K. making it at least five countries with on-going litigation between the two companies. Samsung also filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission, requesting all imports of the allegedly infringing devices be blocked.
