One of the surprise successes in gaming last year was Runic Games' Torchlight. Torchlight is an Action-RPG in the vein of Diablo and Fate, considering the studio's founders worked on both titles, and was an almost instant smash-hit for the PC. Recently Torchlight has found its way to Xbox Live Arcade to reach even more gamers. Work is also currently going on with the sequel, Torchlight 2, and the development is focused on the PC version. There are some new features coming in Torchlight 2, perhaps the biggest being LAN play. You can play the game locally with some of your friends and go through the campaign together. Torchlight 2 will support between four and eight players (Runic is currently undecided on how many), and if you're worried about a mad dash for the loot, you'll be relieved to know you'll only see the items that work with your class. Speaking of class, the new addition is the Berserker, which features fast, powerful attacks and an animal theme. One attack makes wolves run from your body to attack enemies while another lets you breathe fire via a dragon totem. Lastly, Runic is including mod tools with the game that will be pretty powerful. You'll be able to create whatever you want with the tools, from new campaigns to game modes, powers, and more.
Torchlight 2 will release for the PC before the end of the year.
