It has not been all that long ago that the Intel Sandy Bridge microarchitecture was introduced. Along with the new platform came a new socket (1155) along with the P67 and H67 chipsets. After a rocky start due to controller issues with the P67 chipset, the P67 platform became the choice of enthusiasts with those wanting the integrated graphics capability of the processors forced to use the H67 chipset. Intel has responded with a new chipset released today - the Z68 - which unites the  features sets of both its predecessors as well as introducing several new features like Smart Response Technology that enables the use of a SSD as a cache for conventional HDDs.
