Google Maps and Street View have become quite the popular little services, with many people using either one as the de facto source to find a place in your city. The problem, however, is that while Street View lets you see what the place is like on the outside, the interior is sorely missing. That is, until now as Google has announced Google Business Photos, a free service offered to business owners to let Google take a picture of the inside of the shop/restaurant. Google Business Photos will be tied in to Google Maps and Street View, with the feature going live in about a week. The feature is part of Google Places which already lets you know what a business is like, but now you will be able to see what it is like on the inside. Google plans to start with a group of cities, but any business owner in any city can request for Google to come in and take some photos. The reason behind this move is so Google can grow Maps, Street View, and Places faster than the competition and to keep your browser squarely aimed at Google.
