Well, you know what they say, when it rains, it pours, and it certainly is pouring for Sony right about now. Just a week removed from announcing that its PlayStation Network had been hacked comes the news that Sony Online Entertainment has been the victim of another breach. According to Nikkei.com, SOE was breached which resulted in the theft of 12,700 credit card numbers and possibly other information. 4,300 of those credit cards are said to be Japanese with no word on how many belong to Americans, but the data is said to be from the year 2007 which minimizes the number of still-active credit cards. It is entirely possible all that was taken was a backup copy of credit card information, one that was not up-to-date. Either way, the news is not good for SOE as it handles information for popular online games like DC Universe Online, Free Realms, EverQuest, and Station.com. SOE took its online services offline earlier today due to the breach, and we will have more information on it as it becomes available.

It seems the Wall Street Journal is reporting that 24.6 million accounts were compromised. Information including names, addresses, emails, telephone numbers, log in names, passwords, and birth dates were all taken. Any of this ringing a bell for anyone?
