For a long time, it seemed as if Nintendo was content to stay with the Wii. Sure, the Nintendo DS has seen new versions and variations released over the years, but the Wii? The Wii has remained the same ever since it launched back in November of 2006. All of that is going to change soon, as Nintendo is preparing to debut a new console at E3 this June. That is, if the rumor holds true that the folks at Game Informer picked up. It does make sense considering the recent lack of first-party titles for the Wii, not to mention a slowdown of games in general. The new console, currently dubbed the Nintendo HD, is thought to be more powerful than the current Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it seems there are conflicting reports about that. Not much is known currently about the new console (like backwards compatibility, controls) but it will bring Nintendo into the HD era at last. It is expected to launch in the fall of 2012.
