According to multiple sources, Research in Motion is planning to bring its popular BlackBerry Messenger service to iOS and Android platforms. There are currently no details on when it will be released, or how much it will cost, but is expected to be available for Android this year. Some report that the service will be free, while others say it will have some sort of fee. The app won't be as full featured as on BlackBerry phones, but will allow for communication between all phones. Some even believe that getting a taste of BBM could cause some people to want the full experience.
