Sony Says Over 41 Million PS3s Sold Worldwide

The Game Developers Conference is currently underway and new games get shown off all the time. This bit of news doesn't concern a particular game, but rather a game console as Sony has announced that 41.6 million PlayStation 3s have been sold worldwide. More than 80% of those consoles are connected to the Internet and have created 70 million PSN accounts, which is far more than the number of consoles sold so one can figure that the majority of the consoles have at least two PSN accounts. Sony also said that traffic to the PlayStation Store in 2010 grew by 60% compared to the year before with a 70% spike in revenue. None of these are hard figures but the fact is that Sony did very well in 2010 from a sales standpoint. Sony was promoting its console throughout the year (and still is) so maybe some of the success can be attributed to the Kevin Butler figure it has created.
