Scythe today released the latest version of its Setsugen 1 VGA cooler, the Setsugen 2. The Setsugen 2 features four copper heat pipes spread throughout the cooler, cooled by a 120mm Slip Stream fan to enable quick dissipation of heat from the GPU. The Slip Stream fan runs between 800 (± 10%) and 2000 RPM (± 20%), producing between 19.40 and 45.47 CFM of airflow. The fan is controlled by a PCI bracket-mounted dial, allowing users to choose their desired noise level. The cooler and fan are designed to support Crossfire or SLI configurations with heights of 33mm and 12mm respectively. The Setsugen 2 uses a new version of the U.M.C.P. (Universal Multi-Platform Compatibility Plate) mounting mechanism, consisting of two mounting plates and a universal backplate. This allows the cooler to be compatible with a range of video cards, such as NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 460, 465 and 470 along with the AMD Radeon HD 5850, 5870, 6950 and 6970. The Setsugen 2 is bundled with numerous aluminium memory heat sinks for VRAM and voltage regulators, Scythe's thermal compound and a PCI-Express extension cable. The Scythe Setsugen 2 VGA cooler is available now for approximately US$53 (€38.90 excluding VAT).
