SuperTalent Prepares USB 3.0 Flash Drive with SandForce Processor

The market of USB 3.0 flash drives has expanded greatly over the last year, and SuperTalent is preparing yet another - with a twist. This latest flash drive features a SandForce SF-1222 SSD processor along with MLC NAND chips, effectively making it a miniature SSD. The SandForce SF-1222 processor is connected to a SATA 3Gb/s to USB 3.0 chip enabling the device to be used as a conventional flash drive. The SF-1222 processor is only half-full, with eight out of sixteen channels occupied with MLC NAND chips. This results in the flash drive performing at around 50% of it's normal capacity, translating into speeds of up to 143.3MB/s (read) and up to 63MB/s (write) using CrystalDiskMark. Supertalent did not disclose details regarding availability or pricing, but I'd expect to hear more about this interesting product in the near future.
