Other World Computing (OWC) today unveiled its latest SSDs at CES 2011, the Mercury Aura Pro MBA series. The new series consists of the premier (first) SandForce-based SSDs compatible with all 13.3" Apple 2008-2009 MacBook Air models. The Mercury Aura Pro MBA SSDs enables MacBook Air users to experience speeds of up to 275MB/s, translating into speed increases up to 41x faster than the original hard drive, up to 3x faster than the original SSD and up to 20% faster than the factory SSD included in the 2010 MacBook Air models. All models in the series also include SandForce's DuraClass technology, comprising of Error Correction Code (ECC) and SandForce RAISE (Redundant Array of Independent Silicon Elements) in conjunction with 7% over provisioning, creating a reliable and quick storage solution.

Founder and CEO of OWC, Larry O’Connor went on to say that "one of OWC’s core missions is to help consumers maximize their technology investment. By offering faster performance and higher capacity than provided by 2010 models, the Mercury Aura Pro MBA SSD enables 2008-2009 MacBook Air owners to experience better than new performance at a significantly lower cost than a new machine."

The Mercury Aura Pro MBA series of SSDs will be available in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB variants priced at $199.99, $299.99, $579.99 respectively, with the price of the 480GB model still to be announced.
