Most people don't ask for anyone to turn the volume up on their netbook due to the usually less than stellar quality of the speakers on netbooks. Toshiba wishes to change all of that with one of two new netbooks it is launching, as that model comes with a Harman Kardon sound system. The netbook in question is the Toshiba mini NB520 which H/K has packed in some speakers that are two watts each, which you can clearly see on the palm rest area. According to H/K, those are the smallest tweeters it's ever put in a laptop, not just a netbook. The NB520 is also rocking an Intel Atom N550 processor, 2GB DDR3 memory, 250GB hard drive, a 10.1 inch 1024x600 LED-backlit display, and a supposed ten hours of battery life. Say that Harman Kardon sound system doesn't interest you, well Toshiba has you covered with the other new netbook, the NB500. It is a more barebones package as it lacks the sound system and only packs an Atom N455 processor, though the price of it will be less than the NB520.
No word on price was announced for either model, but both are expected to ship in the first quarter of next year.
